Yllka Kuqi and Astrit Pallaska keep alive the historical legacy of Albanian and Kosovar ethno-folk music. The career of the award-winning Kosovar singer Yllka Kuqi started in 2002. At the beginning she generally sang modern pop music and ballads. She later began to incorporate old traditional Albanian and Kosovar songs into her repertoire. Yllka Kuqi has performed at home and abroad and sung at numerous music festivals in Kosovo, Albania and Macedonia. In a local adaption of the musical ‹Oliver Twist›, Kuqi plays the role of Nancy. The psychology graduate also works as a music therapist with children at a music school. She lives with her husband, Astrit Pallaska, in Gjakova, Kosovo. Pallaska is a musician, choirmaster and director of the music school in Gjakova. He studied Music and Choral Conducting at the University of Pristina and has won numerous awards as a song writer. Many famous Kosovar singers cover his songs. In 2003, he founded a children's choir in Gjakova which is still one of his most important projects.
Astrit Pallaska will accompany Yllka Kuqi on the piano and accordion. They will present old Albanian and Kosovar folk songs and new songs with figures and events from Albanian history.
