neuverBand is a chamber ensemble from Basel with a real passion for contemporary music. Founded in 2012 by musicians from Slovenia, Finland, Serbia, Israel, Sweden and Switzerland, the ensemble is devoted to the performance and enjoyment of works by young, up-and-coming composers. neuverBand's challenging and exciting concert repertoire aims to promote a greater understanding and appreciation of contemporary music of the 21st century.
As part of CULTURESCAPES 2013, neuverBand will present a combination of works by established and new composers from Slovenia: Vinko Globokar, a French composer of Slovenian decent and a pioneer of contemporary music; Uroš Rojko, a ‹notable exception in today's landscape of new music›, who has, amongst other things, inspired and influenced the works of the young composers Matej Bonin, Petra Strahovnik, Nina Šenk and Vito Žuraj. The choice of pieces promises an interesting and comprehensive insight into the last three decades of contemporary music in Slovenia.
