The dub band DUBIOZA KOLEKTIV, which was founded in 2003, intermix elements of hip-hop, reggae, dub, rock and Bosnian folklore. The Bosnian group has already built up an excellent reputation as a live act in South-Eastern and Eastern Europe, but also as well-known leaders in the fight for social change in Bosnia. The band's fourth album ‹Firma Ilegal› was, for example, released right outside the Bosnian Parliament. Their criticism of prevailing corruption within the government was applauded by the national media. ‹Time Magazine› and the BBC have both recognised the Bosnian band as a «legitimate voice of Bosnia». The lyrics of Dubioza Kolektiv revolve around the subjects of freedom, tolerance, politics and cultural stereotypes. Their musical skills were forged inside shelters during the siege of Sarajevo. These guys know more than anyone how to use music as a weapon: their music is tailor-made for massive sound systems. But if you are looking for macho behaviour, money-driven and egomaniac posing, look elsewhere: no MTV gangstas, no strippers, no bling! Dubioza Kolektiv tackle traditional musical forms of music in their own unique way. Their energetic music is shaped by a war which changed their lives forever and delivered to audiences with a large portion of positivity that hits you like a blast of fresh air.
