In one of the shortest and most popular Slovenian folktales, a dog chases a rabbit because it has stolen his shoes. This contemporary stage production is inspired by the story of the dog and the rabbit. The two are neighbours. And as is common, they argue and compete with each other.
Because they are very different. The dog wears sports shoes, the rabbit normal ones. The rabbit likes carrots, the dog sausages. One of them can hear better, the other one can smell better. But they also have things in common: They both like to run, hunt and play. A tree grows between their houses. Both of them claim it belongs to them. They therefore organise a competition to find its rightful owner. However, not only the result of the race is a surprise, but also that an unexpected friendship develops beneath the tree. Because we share the things we cherish with friends. It is a comedy about running and singing, designed for a young audience under the guidance of the versatile puppeteer Silvan Omerzu, who is renowned for his musically inspired, playful and dynamic works.
The story of the competition between the two neighbours who eventually become friends unfolds in front of the audience's eyes on a simple, modular stage set, with wooden puppets and props.
