Maja Osojnik and Matija Schellander make up the duo Rdeča Raketa (Red Rocket). The two Vienna-based, internationally respected musicians and composers are very passionate about abstract improvisation, contemporary compositions and various other musical styles. Their subjects are tone-colour melody and electro-acoustic improvisation.
In recent years, the duo has released the cassette ‹Old Girl, Old Boy› (Mosz Records): a 40-minute, non-stop live recording of electro-acoustic improvisation. Osojnik and Schellander have also composed several pieces for, amongst others, the vocal ensemble ‹Hortus Musicus›, new silent film music for Filmarchiv Austria, and performed concerts in Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Slovakia, Germany, Serbia and South Korea. The second release of the Viennese duo ‹Wir werden› (We Will) (godrec11) contains two carefully composed pieces which each fill one side of the vinyl. The music consists of organically combined electronic sound sources, field recordings and acoustic instruments: Paetzold bass recorder, double bass and piano. With spoken word lyrics at the start and end of the album, ‹Wir werden› deals with the recurring past, movements and their absence, collapsing systems, and relationships between people and their innermost fears.
The concert in Biel will take place as a headphone concert (kopfhörer©41). The headphone set is supported by the city of Biel, the canton of Bern and Migros Aare.
