The Croatian writer, columnist and journalist Boris Dežulović was born in Split in 1964. He studied art history and has worked as an illustrator, comic-strip artist and graphic designer. Dežulović was a co-founder of the satirical weekly magazine ‹Feral Tribune›, which enjoys cult status throughout the former Yugoslavia. His novels, stories, poems and columns often deal with ludicrous political events and the absurdity of people's views, while proving just how witty, illuminating and engaging literature can actually be. In Bern, Dežulović will read from recently translated texts, e.g. the columns "Why are Croatians so surly?", and from his book of poetry entitled ‹Poems from the Lora› for which he was awarded the 2007 Prize of the Croatian Helsinki Committee for Human Rights. Boris Dežulović is without doubt one of the most popular and important Croatian authors alive today.
