Originally written in 1943, the story of ‹The Little Prince› by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry is probably the best known appeal for friendship and tolerance. The production of the piece by the ‹Albanian National Children's Theatre› is based on the movements of four puppets that are operated skilfully by four actors. Particular attention is paid to the lighting. The utilisation of multi-media elements provides the show with a magical aspect and ensures the performance is highly entertaining for children and adults alike. The beautiful art of puppetry is combined wonderfully with the outstanding ability of the puppeteers.
The Tirana Puppet Theatre was founded in 1950 and has been at home in the same building since 1962. The theatre received its official name ‹The Albanian National Children's Theatre› in 2003. Five brand new productions are performed each year along with pieces selected from the theatre's wide repertoire.
In 1995, the award-winning theatre organised the Balkan Festival of Puppetry and in 2004 the Balkan Week of Puppet Theatre, which toured five Albanian towns. Furthermore, the theatre has been invited to numerous puppet theatre festivals throughout Europe.
