The exhibition ‹Life in a Box› uses black and white photographs to document the family life of the photographer Dragi Nedelchevski - a life centred around the needs of his severely handicapped son, Mane. In a sensitive yet pragmatic manner, he depicts Mane's daily life. The photographer, and father, captures his son's emotions and feelings perfectly while managing to attain a certain distance. Quiet moments of happiness and sorrow, affection and pain, when playing and eating intensify and become a portrait of great dignity - a portrait which tells a universal story of life beyond individual fate.
Dragi Nedelchevski currently lives in Tetovo, Macedonia. He studied law and is employed by the local council in Tetovo. He has also been working as a freelance photographer for over 30 years. Dragi Nedelchevski has showcased his works at numerous national and international exhibitions and been awarded several awards. ‹Life in a Box› was developed within the framework of the cooperation project ‹A Different View›, which was supported by the Swiss Cultural Programme and organised by the Macedonian Centre for Photography in Skopje. The exhibition has already been on show in Skopje, Belgrade and Sarajevo. Dragi Nedelchevski will be attending the preview party on 3 December.
