The guitarist Vlatko Stefanovski (*1957 in Prilep, Macedonia) is renowned for his ethno-rock-jazz-fusion style, his unique playing style and his unmistakeable sound. Vlatko Stefanovski started playing the guitar at the age of 13. While still in his teens he formed the band ‹Leb i Sol› (‹Bread and Salt›), which became one of the best known projects in the music scene of the former Yugoslavia. ‹Leb i Sol› released 14 albums and toured the world. Vlatko Stefanovski has also experienced huge success as a solo artist since the mid-1990s, recording a number of remarkable albums. Several of these have involved close cooperation with the Serbian guitarist Miroslav Tadić. The interplay of the two musicians is a milestone for Stefanovski's acoustic guitar work and his recently acquired interest in traditional Macedonian music. Stefanovski has also been involved in impressive projects with other well known musicians, such as Bojan Z, Manu Katche and Tommy Emmanuel, in recent years. His latest works include music for film, theatre and ballet. As a solo artist, Stefanovski has shared the stage and studio with various orchestras and ensembles, such as the London Symphony Orchestra and the Leipzig Symphony Orchestra. He lives with his family in Skopje and owns a project studio called ‹Esoteria Sound Studio›.
