The pianist BOJAN Z was born in Belgrade (Serbia) in 1968. He started playing the piano at the age of five. During his national service at the end of the 1980s he played in the army orchestra and discovered the richness of traditional Balkan music. At the age of 20, he decided to leave his hometown and move to Paris, where he studied at the CIM Jazz School. He soon became a household name in the French jazz scene. With his special language - consisting of a mature jazz vocabulary combined with a subtle sprinkling of folkloric influences - Bojan Z is definitely one of the most extraordinary talents of the European jazz scene.
The singer, flutist and composer Tamara Obrovac, who was born on a North Adriatic peninsula in the Croatian region of Istria, is one of the most versatile and important artists of the Croatian music scene. She combines jazz with the traditional music of her Mediterranean homeland, thus crossing the borders between various genres. Together with her ‹Transhistiria Ensemble› she incorporates elements of Istrian and Mediterranean music, jazz and other contemporary styles in a skilful and natural manner. Far beyond time and geographical boundaries, the music becomes a universal artistic message with a unique musical twist.
