DAMIR IMAMOVIĆ (*1978) is one of the most important interpreters of Sevdah, an authentic form of folk music and poetry from Bosnia-Herzegovina. Damir's interpretations are based on a passionate commitment of sharing the history and aesthetics of this traditional music. He is seen not only as a representative of the new generation - the so-called fusion Sevdah - but also as an excellent interpreter of traditional Sevdah performance. After two hugely successful CDs together with a trio and several solo projects, he is now expanding the borders of this genre with his new band ‹Damir Imamović Sevdah Takht› in the best tradition of this music.
The ‹SVETLANA SPAJIĆ GROUP› is a female a cappella group from Serbia founded by the internationally famous folk singer Svetlana Spajić. Its repertoire includes old Serbian and Bosnian folk songs, which require very special vocal techniques, and gentle ballads from Eastern Serbia. The music of the ‹Svetlana Spajić Group› is a powerful rediscovery of old expressions, unexpected harmonies and forgotten languages. Through their mesmerising charisma and impressive programme, the singers provide the audience with an unforgettable insight into a fascinating culture. Spajić was a guest performer at Theater Basel in 2012 with the work ‹The Life and Death of Marina Abramović› by Robert Wilson.
