This year witnessed the seventh pre-art competition for the promotion of young composers. The Swiss organisation pre-art therefore promotes talented young artists from the countries where it has been active for the past 15 years.
The jury headed by Roland Moser selected five artists from four countries of the former Yugoslavia, whose award-winning pieces will be presented at a concert of the pre-art Soloists.
Three works by established artists will be combined: The three-part tango paraphrase ‹OFF› composed by Darija Andovska for pre-art Soloists in 2009, a duo of the Swiss composer Heidi Baader-Nobs and a further duo by Ališer Sijarić, the artistic director of the SONEMUS project in Sarajevo.
The SONEMUS Ensemble will be presented in the second half of the concert: Founded in 2001, the ensemble preformed a Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian translation of Stravinsky‘s ‹The Soldier's Tale› throughout the former Yugoslavia in 2002; it was the first national tour of its kind after the wars of the 1990s. SONEMUS has since become a shining example of Bosnian's contemporary creative scene throughout Europe.
