As part of the closing ceremony of the exhibition <Tatlin. New Art for a New World> at Museum Tinguely, CULTURESCAPES presents the silent film classic <Moskwa> (Moscow), which uniquely captures the Constructivist zeitgeist of the 1920s.
In 1927, on the tenth anniversary of the October Revolution, Mikhail Kaufman and Ilja Kopalin were commissioned to make a film about Moscow. Using unconventional camera angles and experimental techniques, the film documents life in the Soviet metropolis: The hustle and bustle in train stations and market places, everyday life in factories and suburbs - but always viewed from a revolutionary perspective. This symphony of the big city is accompanied by the silent film music of Guenter A. Buchwald. The conductor, musician and composer is one of the pioneers of the renaissance of silent film music and famous for his variety of styles from baroque to avant-garde.
5 pm: A piano concert of David Holzman with works by Lourié, Weprik, Roslawets and Wolpe will take place following the presentation.
Entrance fee: CHF 15 / 10 (museum entrance)
