From intimate ballads and jazzy avant-garde compositions to African rhythms - ALEX ROSTOTSKY‘S JAZZ BASS THEATRE discovers a new style during each and every concert, creating a wonderful mix of many musical genres. This creative jazz band was founded in Moscow in 1994 by the composer and bass player Alex Rostotsky. Rostotsky can look back on more than 25 years in the music business. He has continuously toured throughout Europe, Asia and Africa. Thanks to his appreciation and understanding of different cultures, he is able to use languages of the world as a central component of his music. For the ethno-jazz project <Art Splash>, composed for a jazz quartet, he has managed to weave African fairytales and Russian poems into the music like a fifth voice. Four musicians, Rostotsky (electric bass), Lev Slepner (marimba/vibraphone), Timur Nekrasov (tenor saxophone/soprano saxophone) and Alexander Kurkov (drums), have toured with <Art Splash> from Moscow to Kampala and Basel.
