In cooperation with CULTURESCAPES, the European Broadcasting Festival <MusMA< presents a concert programme exploring key areas of contemporary European music in Gare du Nord. This concert will be broadcast by DRS 2. The drum quartet of the University of Music Basel, the <Ensemble This! Ensemble That!> will perform works from five exceptional composers. The Muscovite Alexey Sysoev (*1972) has been commissioned by CULTURESCAPES to compose the piece <Zaum>, a work based on the absurd poem <Military call Zau> (1922) by the Russian poet Aleksei Kruchenykh. <Cage's Fandango> by the Spaniard Francisco Novel Samano Calleja on the other hand is a playful ode to John Cage. The works of Giulia Monducci <Flux>, Ivan Josip Skender <White Line Fever> and Petra Strahovnik <Between East & West> from Italy, Croatia and Slovenia respectively are mysterious and hypnotic.
<MusMA> is a cooperation between ten European festivals as well as local radio stations which promote contemporary composers and their works throughout Europe.
