Equally influenced by American pianists like Bill Evans and Keith Jarrett, as well as big Scandinavian names like Bobo Stenson and Jon Blake, the Icelandic jazz pianist and composer Sunna Gunnlaugs (*1970) and her trio combine musical roots and influences from both sides of the Atlantic. The Washington Post described their music as «such timeless virtues as lyricism and grace ... elegantly bridges soul - searching passages with uncluttered swing». Gunnlaugs' love affair with jazz began in her teenage years, after she had also discovered her passion for the piano. She studied at the William Paterson College in New York and lived a long while in the jazz mecca that is Brooklyn. The Icelandic trio are currently touring across Europe with their album ‹Lang Pair Bond›.
