The theatre collectives vorschlag:hammer and yuri500 dare to take on Iceland's ancient stories. They use this literary legacy, still popular today, as an optical illusion to reflect on history, historicity and the formation of identity in the reality of living in the Arctic. In relation to this, the early medieval narrative forms serve as a bridge to the present: the play «sagafises» the biography of a modern Icelander, and examines how this kind of documenting contributes to our notion of reality. Set against a dramatic stage design, where Icelandic spectacles of nature are analysed and performed, changing narrative perspectives are constantly chasing one another. Seasons become moments, instants grow into monumental events and carry the audience out of time and space.
