Jón Gnarr is an artist, comedian and a self-proclaimed anarchist. What started as an arts project, with the founding of the Best Party, evolved, after his election to Mayor of Reykjavík in 2010, into his mission in life: how can you change something in a society, without changing yourself? He called for open rather than secret corruption, free towels at the swimming pool, and a polar bear for the zoo in Iceland's capital. In ‹Gnarr: How I Became the Mayor of a Large City in Iceland and Changed the World› (Klett-Cotta, 2015) Jón Gnarr describes his career, the rise and fall into the abyss of everyday politics, with admirable candor. Particularly in such an environment as this, listening is an art, which is not often practiced. And this is the art he teaches us, and himself - highly political and visionary. Moderated and translated by Ursula Giger, read by Ueli Jäggi.
