Iceland, the island of fire and ice, is the geographical focus of camerata variabile’s first concert devoted to the element of fire. Together with guest performer Steindór Andersen, one of the most popular Icelandic singers internationally renowned for his work with Sigur Rós, old melodies from the collection of Bjarni Þorsteinsson will be arranged and performed. This ancient, Icelandic musical tradition meets newly commissioned compositions by Daníel Bjarnason, Steingrimur Rohloff and Caroline Charrière.
The musicians will accompany Vincenzo Baviera’s ‹Sonnengang›, through the city, the park, and along the Rhine. This allows, the concert's main focus: the idea of the fire, to achieve a further, much more real, dimension. The «sun wagon» will be decorated with fire wreaths, which will be ignited during the procession.
