Inspired by the biggest volcanic island in the world, Roman Signer (*1938) embarked on a kayak excursion through Iceland. Silvia Bächli (*1956) and Eric Hattan (*1955) spent some months in the port town Seyðisfjörður, where in 2008 Bächli produced the first drawings for her solo show in the Swiss pavilion at the Biennale in Venice, as well as the ground-covering photo installation <Hafnargata> together with Eric Hattan. The landscape panorama of an especially snowy winter and an omnipresent nature come together in documentary snapshots, and only few traces of derelict civilisation bear witness to human life. Otherwise time seems to stand still. STAMPA art gallery presents a selection of works by these three Swiss artists, all of which were created in Iceland and were shaped by the country's cultural and natural landscape.
