Skúli Sverrisson (*1966) is one of Iceland's most important and influential jazz bassists, composers and producers. Over the past two decades the New York-based Icelander has collaborated with the crème de la crème of the jazz world, including Allan Holdsworth, Laurie Anderson, Jim Black, Derek Bailey, Chris Speed and Lou Reed. His approaches range from traditional folk, across mind-sets and styles of jazz, to forms, which work themselves free of all stylistics.
The saxophonist Óskar Guðjónsson (*1974) has contributed significantly to the jazz-scene in Iceland. He sees music as his vocation, be it actively as a saxophone player or as a composer and discoverer of new talent, and is regarded by his colleagues as an incredible talent. «Óskar is one of those rare individuals, a unique improviser with a very personal sound that has carved his own space inside our universal language of music» (Jim Black).
