Dominik Labhardt's (*1953) photographs are shaped by the experience of a landscape. During his many photographic excursions around the globe, Labhardt learned to concentrate his awareness on the essential. His landscape portraits are underlay by fragments of topography, natural processes and elementary structures. Often a fleeting moment decides a picture's impact. Yet unexpectedly, this short moment of hesitation can also lead to a lengthy dialogue, often also a period of waiting and of patience. Confrontation with the collected photographic material, which can cover months, leads to new pictures with their own radiance. They evoke feelings and perceptions and allow personal discoveries to be made. Labhardt's images create experiences that reach far beyond a solely visual appeal.
