Nuka is on a mission: he is homosexual and is fighting for a new, more open and liberal society in his homeland of Greenland. Together with his best friend he puts together a drag-show and tours the country. ‹Eskimo Diva› is the story of a man fighting for his rights and recognition with dedication and courage. In 2010 the Director Lene Stæhr discovered the then 19year old Nuka Bisgaard, who was at the time co-organising the first Gay Pride in Greenland. In making the film she accompanied Nuka for over four years. A sensitive, nuanced documentary - both shrill and profound at the same time.
The supporting film ‹Sigarett› portrays two style-conscious young men caught in the rat race of weekend pleasures: drinking, flirting, philosophising... whereby the brand of cigarette defines the difference between the mob and the Faroese hipster.
Two Swiss premieres.
