The concert project ‹Yamanote› is a city map of sounds. Yamanote-Line is the name of the longest railway loop line in Tokyo, which connects all major centers of the city. Ensemble Inverspace has commissioned four local composers to capture their environment musically. The personal experience of everyday life in Greater Tokyo should be at the forefront of their works. Ezko Kikoutchi (*1968), Jo Nishio (*1977), Keitaro Takahashi (*1986) and Keiko Harada (*1968) have each composed such a piece.
In the context of the programme ‹Japanese Night› the ensemble will play after a first concert set ‹SILENT FLOWERS› by the Faust Quartett with the Ikebana artist Ann Bucher.
At the concerts at Museum Tinguely and CASA DEL ART, the ensemble plays a slightly different program with the title ‹Yamanote - rush-hour›. For the show on November 1st, the shamisen player Hideaki Tsuji joins them.
Ensemble Inverspace has their home in Basel and consists of Clemens Hund-Göschel (piano), Maruta Staravoitava (flute), Patrick Satdler (saxophone), Max Riefer (percussion) and Roberto Torche (electronic instruments). In order to accommodate the visual experience of big city life, residents of Tokyo, including the composers, will have a chance to voice their opinions in video clips by the filmmaker Tobias Wulff.
