Natsuki Ikezawa was born in 1945 on the island Hokkaido and is today one of the best-known Japanese authors. His oeuvre includes several novels, poetry and short stories and has been translated into numerous languages. He became particularly well known for the novel ‹The Navidad Incident: The Downfall of Matías Guili›.
This summer, his novel with the original title ‹Hana o hakobu imoto› (A Burden of Flowers) from 2000 will be published for the first time in a German translation by Abera Verlag under the title ‹Schwere Blumen›. The book is about a cosmopolitical criminal case based on a true story. A young Japanese man becomes addicted to heroin while travelling through Southeast Asia. After being arrested by police in Bali for drug possession and facing a possible death sentence, his sister travels to Indonesia to secure his release.
