The Tokyo-based saxophonist Taiichi Kamimura and the Swiss pianist Chris Wiesendanger met in Japan and have been playing together on a regular basis ever since. The Taiichi Kamimura Trio featuring Hiroshi Yoshino (bass) and Manabu Hashimoto (drums) are very popular at the moment in Japan, enthralling audiences with a unique, warm and expressive sound. After numerous concerts together with Chris Wiesendanger in their home country, the trio will now perform for the first time in Switzerland as a quartet with compositions by the two bandleaders. Reflective piano melodies and newly arranged elements of traditional and court music from Japan are combined in an improvised jazz style. This musical precision and the versatile approach of playing together create a style that is full of energy as well as the most sensitive poetry.
