The high-contrast music of the composer and pianist Frangiz Alizade oscillates between meditation and ecstasy. In a unique manner, she allows the musical traditions of her native country to fuse with modern western composing techniques. Together with the Cologne-based Minguet Quartett, Frangiz Alizade will perform, amongst other things, her piano quintet. As one of the most sought after younger generation string quartets Minguet is inspired by the works of modern composers and is particularly involved with twenty-first century artists by supporting the premiere of their works. The quartet was named after the Spanish philosopher Paolo Minguet, who believed everyone should have access to the beautiful arts. This belief has become the leitmotif of the Minguet Quartett founded back in 1988.
The program will include works by Rahilia Hasanova and the Night Prayers by Giya Kancheli.
