Azerbaijan, 1930: When the first tractor arrived in the remote mountain village of Chadlan, it resulted in a unique "class struggle" between those who viewed the machine as a symbol of a new age and those who feared it. Only the ten-year-old boy Latif tries to mediate between the two groups with his unbiased and impartial stance.
The sober story is typical of early Soviet cinema during the communist era. The director Mikael Mikailov portrays the influences of industrialisation at the beginning of the twentieth century. Salman Gambarov composed the background music for piano and traditional Azerbaijani instruments. Since its premiere in Azerbaijan in 2001 the project has also been presented in Germany, the Ukraine, Poland and Switzerland together with the musicians Fakhraddin Dadashov and Eldar Gafarov.
