Understanding religions is probably the most important thing in the twenty-first century, besides hunger and climate change. It can be observed over and over again that the five world religions do not seek dialogue and understanding from the outside where their forms and conventions collide, but attempt to approach and understand one another from the inside. This also includes love, and it is precisely this love which Christians find difficult to determine in Islam. Learning to understand Islam also means learning to understand the significance of love in Islam. An insight is provided by one of the most famous epics from Azerbaijan, the story of the lovers Leyla and Majnun, in a version by the State Pantomime Theatre of Azerbaijan and a reading by the actors H.-Dieter and G. Antonia Jendreyko.
