Gong Linna is considered as a pioneer of the new chinese art music. She was born 1975 in Guiyang. At the age of 17 she begann her studies as a vocalist at the China Conservatory of Music in Beijing. Her career reached a peek in 2000, when she was assigned the title of the ‹Best Singer› at the ‹Chinese National Singing Competition›. Now Gong Linna concentrates on traditional Qin-songs as well as classical chamber music. Because of her ability to transform traditional vocal music into a contemporary art form she is one of the most important chinese singing voices. Coloured, agile and very varied are the musical dialogs she initiates with her music.
