The two artists Sandra Kunz (Switzerland) and Yang Jian (China) realise the project of an inflatable and architectonic sculpture which combines and brings together aesthetic and cultural heritage from both China and Switzerland. The joint project uses features which create identities and are relevant to both countries, but have different meanings. The shape of the oeuvre is oriented towards the architectural style in Southeastern China. The house enwraps the Matterhorn, which the audience can see hanging from the ceiling when entering the house.
The goal of this project is to forge links between different cultures, to outline questions and paradoxes of form and content and to parody intercultural misunderstandings. Cultural barriers and boundaries should be overcome in this interdisciplinary cooperation. The oeuvre deconstructs as well as justifies prefabricated norms and prejudices.
