A piece about the fine line between hedonism and fear, between irony and innocence, between Jerusalem and Basel. A theatrical event which crosses boundaries and conventions intrigues the senses and suggests new relations between performers and audiences.
In a world that is constantly threatened by war (Israel) or economical and environmental crises (Western Europe) people turn easily in to hedonists. Behind this hedonistic behavior hides a great fear: The fear to lose something - one's life, for example, or one's way of life. ‹When you're dead you're done› is a research about how the different fears, particularly in Israel and Switzerland, lead to different forms of hedonistic behavior. Because the fundament of this behavior is fear, the joy that grows from it is extremely fragile. This new co-production was initiated by Hazira - Performance Art Arena with Culturelscapes. The starting point of the collaboration was the extreme apparent difference between the two places, concerning burning issues for the young generation in Basel and Jerusalem.
Tabea Martin (Choreographer - Basel), Tchelet Weisstub (Visual theatre maker- Jerusalem), Itamar Mendes-Flohr (Visul artist - Jerusalem) and Matthias Mooij (Theatre director - Amsterdam), will create, together with other Israeli artists, a theatrical happening in which the audience is taken through different image-spaces that all represent different aspects of enjoyment. Each space will allow for a different experience.
