Ever since their first performance at the Music Biennale Zagreb in 2001, the members of the CANTUS ENSEMBLE have hardly changed under the continued artistic direction of Berislav Šipuš (*1958). The ensemble is devoted to modern and contemporary music, which was rarely heard in Croatian music halls up to the ensemble's foundation. Today, the ensemble primarily plays new music and is an integral part of the cultural scene in Croatia. But the Cantus Ensemble actually wants more than just that: It wishes to be a driving force in the performance of new musical styles.
