As part of CULTURESCAPES The Balkans 2013, we wish to indulge in bar-room politics without bar-room language and at a cut above normal bar-room offerings. The accessible installation ‹Burning Bridges› acts as the backdrop. A common, former reality that still seems to be present throughout the Balkan region.
Albania had isolated itself from the rest of the world and the multinational state of Yugoslavia tore down the internal bridges in a civil war during the 1990s. Both the totalitarian isolation of Albania and the ‹Third Way› of Yugoslavia were doomed from the start. We know the common past: But what does the common future hold? Together with artists and culture-makers we wish to dream of this future through lectures, film screenings, as well as mutual cooking sessions, held over four evenings.
