The piano trio by Philipp Scharwenka (1847-1919) in C sharp minor is a typical example of the rather gloomy character of his works. The four-movement Piano Trio Op. 8 by Frédéric Chopin (1810-1849) is also in minor. It is somewhat overshadowed by his numerous compositions for solo piano, but deserves all the attention it gets as a fully valid work by this genius of the Romantic era. Andrzej Panufnik (1914-1991) achieved fame at an early age with the Piano Trio Op. 1.
Trio Nota Bene was founded in 1999 by Lionel Monnet (piano), Xavier Pignat (cello) and Julien Zufferey (violin). After graduating in Chamber Music from the Lausanne Conservatory, they continued their musical studies in Paris. The trio performs on national and international stages and has won numerous awards and competitions.
