Twelve years after the production of «Krum», «the enfant terrible of Polish avant-garde theatre» Krzysztof Warlikowski once again focusses on the work of Hanoch Levin and stages «Suitcase Packers»: After an unsuccessful expedition abroad, the protagonist Krum returns home full of hope, but finds everyone packing or dying. The subtitle reveals that the play is a «comedy with eight funerals», in which the characters who are still alive cannot always remember whose funeral they are attending. The amazing actors with whom Warlikowski has been working for many years interweave this humour with feelings of sadness and empathy. Since nobody manages to escape: Grandma flees hospital, but is sent back. Her grandson succeeds in running away from his father in an attempt to lose his stutter and define his own sexuality, but he also returns, alone and stuttering.
