The programme «Filia Praeclara» of the Ensemble Peregrina from Basel introduces us to a largely unknown world of music: The microcosm of a 13th and 14th century convent. The ensemble is able to revive the diverse intellectual and cultural life of the Convents of Poor Clares, such as Stary Sacz in Poland, in a subtle and inspirational way. Simple monophonic sequences for the patron saint of the order, Saint Clare of Assisi, alternate with polyphonic Marian chants, which were mainly composed in the convents.

In 2009, the CD «Filia Praeclara» won the prestigious Echo-Klassik Award for the best a cappella recording of the year. The singers have an extraordinarily homogeneous ensemble sound that enchants audiences through its warmth and intimacy.
