The Basel Sinfonietta is a symphony orchestra specialising in contemporary music. In collaboration with leading contemporary composers, more than 160 world premieres and Swiss premieres have been staged to date.
CULTURESCAPES Poland is a wonderful occasion for the orchestra to put together a programme of new works by young composers from Poland and Switzerland. Under the direction of its principal conductor Baldur Brönnimann (*1968), commissioned works by Cécile Marti (*1973) (UA), Paweł Hendrich (*1979) (UA), Katharina Rosenberger (*1971) and Piotr Roemer (*1988) (UA) as well as «Exordium» (2016) by Oscar Bianchi (*1975) will be performed. The commissions were offered by CULTURESCAPES, Basel Sinfonietta and the Warsaw Autumn festival.
